Rezumat

        In decursul istoriei poporului roman obstetrica a descris o evolutie paralela cu marile etape ale formarii neamului romanesc. In acest context Iasul a reprezentat un punct nodal in aceasta evolutie, deoarece in cadrul Principatelor Romane el a detinut un rol important, crucial.
        Dezvoltarea obstetricii in orasul Iasi a fost o rezultanta a emanciparii sale economice, manifestate in primul rand prin dezvoltarea învatamantului, subliniata ulterior prin aparitia invatamantului superior medical, deci si obstetrical.

Abstract
        Throughout romanian people’s history, obstetrics registered an evolution corresponding to the great steps of the romanian state becoming, in which Iasi played its important role.

        Development of obstetrics in Iasi was the result of its economic progress especially reflected in education with the foundation of medical school, including the obstetrics department.
